Q: Why is my pool green?

A: Usually a green pool is due to low sanitizer level or neglect.

Q: Why is my pool cloudy?

A: Cloudy water can result from many things; here are some of the most common:
1) Pool filtration
2) Time to shock the pool
3) High pH
4) Insufficient run time

Q: Why is my filter pressure higher than normal?

A: High pressure usually indicates a dirty filter in need of a backwash.

Q: Why is my filter pressure lower than normal?

A: Low pressure usually indicates that the pump and skimmer baskets need to be emptied. Other possibilities could be a clogged impeller or clogged line.

Q: What Is pH?

A: pH is a term used to indicate the level of acidity or alkalinity of water on a scale of 0-14 with 7 being neutral.

Q: Why is pH so important?

A: High pH will cause scale, cloudy water, chlorine inefficiency, eye irritation and clogged filters. Low pH will cause corrosion, etching, chlorine loss and eye and skin irritation.

Q: Why do I need stabilizer (cyanuric acid)?

A: Stabilizer or cyanuric acid helps prevent the loss of chlorine from the sun’s UV radiation.

Q: What is Optimizer?

A: Optimizer is a tetraborate product that will enhance water quality and comfort to swimmers as well as prevent algae. It removes the carbon dioxide from the water. (Carbon dioxide is the food source for algae.)

Do’s and Don’ts

Do’s
1) Do maintain correct water level (usually the middle of the tile).
2) Do shut off heater 10 – 15 minutes before pump (to allow it to cool down).
3) Do replace broken pump and skimmer baskets and broken weirs.
4) Do have D.E. filter disassembled and cleaned every six months.
5) Do check the freeze guard operations at first freeze.
6) Do run the pump continuously during freezing weather.
7) Do keep chemical containers lids closed tightly.
8) Do store chemicals in a cool, dry place with good ventilation. Chemical fumes can rust metals.

Don’ts
1) Don’t vacuum large debris through skimmer.
2) Don’t run the pool cleaner without the main pump on.
3) Don’t leave anything on the heater.
4) Don’t mix any chemicals.
5) Don’t add water to chemicals. (Always add chemicals to plenty of water.)
6) Don’t store liquid chemicals on top of dry chemicals.
